United States Marine Marcus Dandrea has been selected as the recipient of Design Pro Remodeling’s 2025 Military Home Makeover.
Marcus originally joined the Marines out of Jacksonville Florida through the delayed entry program at age 17.
He was on his second deployment when he lost both of his legs in an IED blast in Sangin, Afghanistan on Feb. 24, 2011.
Today he is recognized as a Builder, Thinker, and Warrior.
Marcus is an entrepreneur in the making, currently developing two innovative products designed to improve both everyday life and personal well-being. At the same time, he’s developing a service to support women, giving them the guidance and solutions they need to navigate one of the most overlooked health challenges.
His days are spent sharpening his mind, strengthening his body, and deepening his soul—all while balancing the demands of fatherhood, proudly serving as his kids’ personal chauffeur when adventure calls. His passion extends beyond entrepreneurship.
Having witnessed the brutal cost of war firsthand, Marcus carries a deep commitment to the innocent lives caught in conflict—the men, women, and children too often reduced to “collateral damage.”
He believes strength is not just about survival, but about standing for those who cannot stand for themselves.
For Marcus, life is about building—whether it’s new ideas, his family’s future, or a legacy that will echo long after he’s gone.
We’re excited to celebrate and give back to a true American hero by delivering Marcus and his family updates to their home, and also provide smart accommodations to enable Marcus’s accessibility and mobility within the house.
